This is the 'camp' for my coming Viking DBA army ... another contribution to my East of England theme, the idea was to show the prows of a couple of longships pulled ashore in some wetland inlet.
I thought I could achieve this using some of the bullrushes left over from staging the Egyptian reed boat.
Basically we have an Essex Viking boat, a couple of packs worth of Peter Pig looters, prisoners etc. a Museum Miniatures dog plus some of those Heinrichsen reeds/rushes ...
Junk by Irregular, PP and Baueda, Celtic cross by PP (a marker from the new Vikings range that inspired this army.
Aficionados will recognise 2 of the figures as Essex (an oldie and a newie) ...
The base is clear acrylic to allow some watery 'show through', and I have allowed for one of those de-mountable Camp Follower elements ...
A fair bit of painting needed to be done before the reeds, rushes and ground work went in - the crowding means that composing and painting as you go works best ...
(painting some of the shields that will be partly obscured in the final composition)
The paint is a mix of Humbrol enamels, Vallejo acrylics and Rowney watercolours.
